Substitute Library Assistants

This program is designed to aid member libraries by providing Substitute Library Assistants when needed. Any Winnefox library is eligible to request a Substitute Library Assistant to cover vacancies that include vacation, illness, or to cover the need for short-term assistance. Substitute Library Assistants will be employees of the Winnefox Library System and available on an on-call basis.

Library Information

$15.00 2024 hourly rate paid to Employee
$12.00 2024 hourly rate charged to libraries.  Normally, cost to library is hourly rate plus Social Security and Medicare tax.  However, in 2024, Winnefox will cover the remaining wage and milage costs.

Mileage at the current IRS standard mileage rate will be paid after the first 10 miles. The wage rate will be reviewed annually.

A minimum call-in of 4 hours for any day is required. Submit requests at least one week in advance of the date you need coverage. Winnefox will try to accommodate shorter term requests when necessary. There is no guarantee that a Substitute Library Assistant will be available.

Libraries are required to submit an Information Form to be eligible to participate in the program. This form will include information to include an emergency call list and building security issues. Specific job tasks required of the Substitute Library Assistant will be submitted with a request form.

A confirmation form will be issued to the requesting library. This form will also be used as a time sheet and as a customer service survey to assist Winnefox in providing the best possible substitute program. This form will be signed by the substitute, by a library representative, and be submitted to Winnefox for payroll processing.

Winnefox Information
Winnefox will advertise, interview, and hire applicants to establish a list of on-call Substitute Library Assistants. All employment records will be kept on file in the Winnefox Administration office. The on-call list will be updated annually to ensure the most up-to-date information.

Winnefox will assign employees to a job site based on needs and proximity to the requesting library. Winnefox Library System will cover any Unemployment Insurance payments that become necessary.

Employee Information
Potential hires will follow the application process established by Winnefox Library System. The process includes application, interview and hire. Wage rate is stated above a minimum of 4 hours call in for any day. Mileage will be reimbursed at the current IRS standard mileage rate and will be paid after the first 10 miles. Travel time is not included in time worked. No benefits are available for this position.

Employees are required to have a high school diploma, 1 year library experience, and SirsiDynix Workflows experience.

Current employees of Winnefox Library System are ineligible to participate in this program.
