Today’s Topic: "I paid for that" or Where did that bill go?...and shortcuts to select text.
Sometimes you are pretty sure there ought to be a bill on a patron's record. Or sometimes a patrons says "I paid for that" when they still owe $$ for something. How do you look to see information about whether/when/how a bill was paid...Read more...To see bill history information you need to be in the Display User Wizard. Access this wizard either through the 1Users toolbar, or by clicking on the Display User Helper within Checkout or some other wizard, or by hitting the F7 key. By default, when you look at a patron's Bill tab in WorkFlows, it displays money owed and any outstanding bills. It usually looks something like this:
Notice how the scroll bar isn't all the way down? That is an indication that there is more to see--even though the options to Display Another User and Close are already visible. Scroll down to the bottom and you'll see:
If you click on the down arrow by "Unpaid" you will get the option to view "All", "Paid", or "Unpaid." Most of the time you will want to select "All." Suddenly, the list looks like this:
You can see that it is displaying Paid and unpaid bills. There are 11 bills total, patron only owes $1.80. I marked the 2 lines where the patron still owes money. Remember you can sort this list by any column. Default sort is by date. Clicking on the glossary (the bit with a dotted underline) for any line gives you more information--like when the patron made payments and how they paid: cash, check, forgiven, waived, etc.
You can also print out the list. There are multiple ways to print:
1. Print User Helper Found in upper right corner of Display User Wizard. This helper gives you the option to choose what bits of the User information to print. It will open the printer dialog and you can choose which printer to send it to.
2. File-->Print Screen. This will open the entire Display User screen in your browser. You can then CTRL-P to print from your browser.
MS Office Tip: Use multiple clicks to select chunks of text. Double-click over a word to highlight it or triple-click to highlight an entire sentence or section.
Share & Enjoy!
