2. BISAC Overview Over Lunch, 12:15 - 1:15 pm

Unlike the Dewey Decimal System which categorizes related knowledge systematically, BISAC is an alphabetical list of categories from Antiques and Collectibles to True Crime.  Each of the 50 subject areas has almost 100 sub-categories each.  BISAC (Book Industry Standards and Communications) is a system adapted from the book industry.

Karen Boehning will provide information on BISAC or subject groupings in libraries, and how it might work with SirsiDynix Symphony and the Dewey Decimal System.
