Doing Less as a Librarian

As librarians, it's our tendency to add tasks to our daily schedule... monitoring RSS feeds, watching the latest authors on YouTube, and blogging about picture books. What are we dropping from our schedule to make time for these new duties? Will it negatively affect our abilities as librarians? Librarian Colleen Angel will explore ways to identify and reduce or eliminate low impact chores. If you've trimmed something from your schedule, bring your story along to share.

Meditation

Following the presentation, Colleen will guide us on a meditation focusing on "letting go" in order to make our lives more purposeful and less hectic.

Colleen Angel is a librarian with a curious mind and a kind heart. As a librarian at UW Stevens Point, Colleen has provided services in reference, interlibrary loan, circulation, copyright permissions, and many other academic library services. Colleen's educational experience includes a BS in Psychology, MLIS from UW-Milwaukee, and MA in Organizational Communication. In addition, Colleen is a licentiate minister. Personal interests of Colleen's include literacy, hospice, small business ownership and operation, photography, gems and minerals, poetry, and writing. Colleen is also an active member of the Wisconsin Library Association. How does she do it all? Perhaps she has reduced or eliminated low priority tasks from her schedule.
