User Claims Returned Wizard

The User Claims Returned wizard guides you through the process of marking an item that a user claims to have returned. If a user receives an overdue notice but claims to have returned the materials earlier, you need to mark the materials with a claims returned date.

Once marked, the user no longer accrues overdue fines for that item if you set the claims returned date to be the same as the original due date of the item! However the item continues to appear on the user's current checkout list and at the assumed lost stage the item is automatically billed.

  1. Click the User Claims Returned wizard .



  2. Scan the user's library card or look up the user.



  3. Click on the Calendar gadget next to the Claims Returned box of the item you wish to claim return. Set the date using the gadget to the original due date of the item being claimed. This is the only way to insure that fines will NOT be charged for claims returneds. If you enter today's date, the user will accumulate fines. Click OK when you are finished with the calendar gadget.



  4. Verify that the date in the Claims Returned window is the original due date of the claimed item and NOT today's date.
  5. Click OK. The item will now be marked as Claims Returned on the user's Checkouts List.



  6. Click on Review Claims Returned Charges to make sure you actually claimed the item returned.



  7. Verify that the item says claims ret and that the date is the original due date of the item, not today's date.
  8. Review next step options.
