The Mark Item Missing wizard guides you through the process of designating an item as missing. An item would be marked missing if the system says the item is on the shelf, but it cannot be located.
- Click the Mark Item Missing wizard

- Use the Item Lookup step to search for the item that you want to mark as missing. Click OK.

- If a list of matching records displays, click on one of the results and click on Mark Item Missing.

- If another list displays, select one of results again and click Mark Item Missing.
If multiple entries for a title display, you may click on the glossary under Pub Year to display information about the entry's material type (see example below).


- If the entry has more than one copy, the Select Copy step displays. Click on the copy you wish to mark Missing and click on Select Missing Copy.

- Review the next step options.
If the item does not have multiple copies, it is marked as missing immediately (right after step 2)!
If searching for the item by Item ID, the item is marked missing immediately (right after step 2)!
If the item to be marked as missing has a title hold or a specific hold, an override will be needed to mark the item missing.
If a missing item is found it should be discharged which will route the item back to its home location.
When an item is marked missing it is actually checked out to a user named missing and has a due date of NEVER.
