Place Hold Wizard

Use this wizard to place holds on items that are currently charged or items that are currently on the shelf.

  1. Click the Place Hold wizard.

  2. Use the radio buttons to select Name or User ID. Enter the corresponding user name or user library barcode number.
  3. Click OK
  4. Use the Item Lookup window to search for the requested item.

  5. Click OK.

  6. If a list of matching records displays, select one of the results by clicking on it. Then click Place Hold. (If the title has multiple copies attached, another selection screen will display. Click Place Hold on Selected Item.)

  7. This is the hold placement window. Leave the Expiration Date box blank. The system will default to one year for all holds. Use the calendar gadget to set a shorter time.
  8. Leave the Pickup At box blank. If left blank, the default library is the library where the hold is being placed. Click the dropdown arrow to display a list of alternate pick-up locations if the patron wishes to pick up the hold elsewhere.
  9. Leave the Comments box blank. Never enter anything here.
  10. Do not change the Level/Range radio buttons. The system will default to a title level hold. Title level holds allow copies across all systems to fill all requests unless the material is marked Local Hold. Use the radio button to select Copy Level hold if placing an item-specific hold.
  11. Click OK.

  12. Review next step options.
