Outlook Tips - Automatically archiving old E-mail messages

 

Archiving messages helps to reduce clutter in your folders, and to make it easier to find the messages you want. It's also very useful when you are receiving unwanted email.

How to:

Step 1 Right-click the folder in Outlook you wish to turn on AutoArchiving, and click on Properties:

Step 2 Select the tab AutoArchive

Step 3 Check the box for Clean out items older than and set how frequent you want the folder to be archived. Then, specify the folder you wish to keep the archive. I recommend using a location on the D drive if you have one.

Step 4 Click OK

Now, as items become 2 months old, they will be archived. You can repeat this process for as many folders as you like. If you keep the same filename of archive.pst, all archives will become part of that one file.
