Outlook - Advanced ManualInbox Using and Opening Attachments Attachments are evil! Don't open them! No really, I'm not kidding. Attachments can be a great thing, when you exercise caution. You can use Outlook to send or distribute files. When you insert a file into a message and then send that message, the file is delivered to the recipient along with the message. The recipient can then use the file as desired. Any type of file can be attached: from Microsoft Office documents to executable programs to digital photographs. If the computer you are using does not have software that is capable of either reading or executing the attached file, you will get an error when you try to open it, and the attachment will be useless to you. Inserting a file is also known as attaching a file, and inserted files are known as file attachments. Also, be careful when opening attachments. If the names of the attachments end in either exe or vbs, delete the message.Don't bother reading the messages, delete the message immediately. (unless you were expecting that message to arrive) -- Sending an attachment. How to: Start a new message. Once you finish the message, before you click send, click the small black paper clip button:

How to: First, open the message containing the attachment. At the bottom of the message you will notice a section with an icon, or icons. These are your attachments:
Double click the icon, and you will be prompted to either save the attachment, or open it.If you wish to keep the file for later use, save it. Otherwise, click Open It.If your computer has a file that recognizes that file type, it will open it:
Remember - do not open files that end with exe or vbs!
